Movin on…

Sometimes
there are times,
I wish I could
go back.

I’d fix
all the places
where things
went right off track.

But then
I remember,
you can’t fix
what’s not been learned.

So instead,
I just keep livin,
knowin the past
has been adjourned.

    1. Yeah, I think we all wish we could do things over sometimes. But I do believe everything happens for a reason and so that is how I make sense of things that I wish never happened.

    1. Thank you so much, Cindy. ❤️ That’s the part that always comes back to me when I feel like I could’ve done the past better. It reminds me that I did the best I could for what I knew at that particular time.

  1. Having been that odd person few people like, the one that maked the bad mistakes and then moved to other states (you know how that goes: “No matter where you go, there you are.”)

FINALLY, I said to all who would listen,”Love me as I am, or leave this place.”

I work with people who have far worse problems, and I’ve been graced with the opportunity to know what it’s like to be a bit different. It is what I was meant to do, and without the experiences I went through in my past, there are few who could do it.

  2. Michelle, well said. If we don’t learn those lessons, it is hard to change behavior now or then. Like Mike said, I too wish I could change some things in my past, but it may also alter the future from that point forward as I finally did learn those lessons (or at least some of them). Keith

    1. I always think about that, how changing the past could affect the future. And I don’t think I’d want to alter the past because I genuinely like how my life has turned out.

  3. Oh, I like this. You know, I like to think I’m an expert at digging around fruitlessly in the past. I tell myself there must be something I’ve missed and if I can only dig it up, everything will be fine. But like you wrote, you can’t fix something you haven’t learned. I guess that makes me an expert at futility. Anyone want to buy a used shovel? 🙂
