An indecisive tale

fire-971949_1280.jpg

Peering out from the dark cavern
A brilliant light shone from the other side of the lake
Her intuition told her to be cautious
And yet her curiosity was more than she could take

The light flickered in luminescent waves
Dancing across the water’s edge
Captivating her inquisitive mind
She didn’t hesitate to forgo her pledge

So off she went to explore the island
Lured by the radiance of such an unusual sight
And as her boat landed on the southern shore
Her senses began filling her with fright

Savage beasts appeared to be dancing
Amongst the glow of flaming embers
And she watched as screaming prisoners
Were all mercilessly dismembered

Before long she was spotted on the shore
And those barbarians sought her without delay
A prize she certainly was
A sitting duck on carnivorous display

And though she tried her best to escape
The cannibals were far too many
They looked at her as a gift from the gods
As if she were a lovely bright shiny penny

It seemed she was far too beautiful to kill
So instead the chief made her his wife
And now she lives in the lap of luxury
Resigned to eating people with a fork and knife

Autumn

A bouquet of sunshine
Brightens the front door
As eager hands bring back
All they’ve dared to explore

Her face comes alive
As the wind twirls her hair
Of loveliness there is nothing
That could ever compare

Her

couple-2585328_1280

She was always there
Resting quietly in his mind
With her smiling face
So loving and kind

Every inch of his body sensed
Her genial existence
Provoked by images of her
He offered up no resistance

And after years of searching
He knew she was the one
The light in her eyes reminded him
Of a bright morning sun

There was no denying his feelings
He had finally found his queen
She’d been there all along
Though nonexistent she had seemed

Fate had eventually been kind
Considering his deepest desires
And he wondered what he had done
To finally be blessed with all he required

The blahs

people-2589639_1280

I often find
I’ve no words to say
Especially at
The end of the day

But inspiration can
Bring all kinds
Softly nudging ideas
Right into my mind

And I think about some
Who haven’t written
Two months, three days
Since the writing bug’s bitten

And let me tell you
It affects me too
All those words
They used to spew

Now they’ve just left me
Without hardly any hope
It’s the reason I often
Just wanna mope

You see…that’s what
Sadness does
Makes you miss
All that was

And yeah I know
I’m not making much sense
Thankfully dispiritedness
Isn’t an offense

Firestorm

Anger casually rises
Brimming to the top
Soon boiling over
Flaming arrows just won’t stop

Hitting their mark
Distressing pleas fill the room
This is their life
Another typical afternoon
