I remain in slumbered thought
And yet my mind aches to go
To be what I should be
To know what I should know
And yet here I sit as always
My body fighting with my mind
The balance between them both
So off-kilter so unkind
The brain at war with the bones
The bones set in stubborn recluse
I fear not even an earthquake
Could shake my body loose
Stuck in that realm of isolation
Peering down on a grand parade
Wishing to be part of everything
Will no one come to my aid?
I’ve become like a stone statue
Watching the crowds pass by
Already in my coffin
Stuck in my mind’s eye
The world hums around me
I’m a lone spectator to the buzz
I remain in sequestered solitude
Free from what the world does

I can so relate. And I read the co.ment about a writers fate. How true it is.

I know… I suppose we wouldn’t be ourselves any other way, but it does become hard sometimes. There’s definitely a balance that needs to be achieved.

Yes, there needs to be, but finding that balance is the hard part.

Your words are so chilling and knowing Michelle
Love this “The brain at war with the bones
The bones set in stubborn recluse’
AND THIS
“I’ve become like a stone statue
Watching the crowds pass by
Already in my coffin
Stuck in my mind’s eye”
Powerful metaphors Michelle.
Now start chipping that stone to let the diamond you are emerge! 💞

Thank you, Cindy… 💕maybe I am chipping it away without even realizing it. We’re having to use metaphors and similes in my poetry class and I’m having to read a bunch of poetry from the 1700 and 1800’s for my literature classes. It’s all been affecting my writing. I wish I could post the poetry I’ve been writing for those classes, but of course it isn’t allowed.

Oh that’s soooo exciting to hear you are taking a poetry class!!! So awesome. It’s all wonderful and in time hopefully you will be able share it! So much fun, xo

Yeah it’s a lot of fun. I think over the next two weeks we’re focusing on some darker topics. Wonder where that’ll lead me. Lol… We have to submit our work to some of the school’s online magazines and an anthology they do every year. Another reason my work can’t be previously published. It’ll be fun to see if anything gets chosen when the semester is over. 😃

I had to come here to read you.. didn’t come to my reader.. ugh. This is so awesome. Learning is awesome and impressive. It does make sense they want to guard your work for themselves. Keep enjoying. ❤️

Lol…. Only you could understand… Now you need to write a poem to go with that. You’ve already got the first stanza. I dare you…😉😁💋

Hi Michelle, I liked this poem and it fits me too. I like being alone with my writing, artwork and thoughts. Alas, I don’t get that much time to indulge myself as my family and work are always demanding attention.

I guess that kinda makes us appreciate our alone time all the more.

From the heart. I know what I’m talking about — still. 😀 I’m sure many agree with me; they just don’t take time to say it.

That is often a writer’s fate – to spend a lot of time alone with our thoughts.

It often times seems to be both a blessing and a curse. Lol… 🙂

You’re so right. I know exactly what you mean. But we are who we are and we have to do what we have to do.
