The Edge of Forever

There she sat
At the edge of forever
Lost in the gloom
Of the shadowy weather

Slumped all alone
In her dismal state
She wondered if anyone
Could possibly relate

Was her solitary life
Always meant to be
If only the answer
She could one day see

Forever seemed too far
As the friendless void imprisoned
No condemnation to pass
This was mostly her decision

Friends Forever

children

Little girl
Blond hair blue eyes
Living the happiest
Days of her life

For right beside
Is her very best friend
A young boy
Of almost ten

Dangling their feet
At the end of the pier
Just happy to know
The other is near

Spending each day
Climbing trees
Too much fun
To notice scrapped knees

Riding bikes
All over town
Smiling and happy
Never sharing a frown

Now side by side
Near the river’s edge
Each silently makes
A forever pledge

For he’s her hero
And she’s his muse
Both something to the other
Neither wants to lose

Friends forever
Never to part
Lucky to have each other
From the very start

I wrote this poem years ago and it always reminds me of my best friend C, and what I imagine it would have been like to grow-up with him.  So wherever you are today C, and whatever you’re doing, I hope you have the best birthday ever.  Love and miss you… ~M xoxo

True friends are…

True Friends are…
True friends are forever praying
True friends are always there waiting
True friends speak truth and are never faking
True friends love you when your heart is aching
True friends show up when your world is quaking
True friends have you on their mind upon waking
True friends hold your hand when you’re shaking
True friends tell you that you’re amazing
True friends give instead of taking
True friends are never berating
True friends know when your heart is breaking
True friends sit by your side when you feel yourself fading
True friends are there no matter what you’re facing
