There is no replacing a friend
The kind who speaks to you every day
Even just a simple hello or goodbye
Is all they ever have to say
For just knowing they are out there
Remembering that you exist
Makes them the best kind of friend
Whom none could ever resist

I miss the one I once knew
The old you
I miss the distant days
The old ways
I miss the witty rhymes
The old times
If only the old
Could be what I forever hold
I’d never have to miss you

On the hour
Most every day
I know you’re never
Far away
If only in thought
You’re still there
Someone I hold
So very dear
A loyal friend
Sent my way
Someone I think of
Night and day
True friends
Are rare and few
And I’m just so thankful
I have you

Dismal days
Are all the craze
Everyone’s living
In a haze
Could this be
Just a phase
Or are we stuck
In a repeating maze
Look at the way
People gaze
So many lost
In a doleful daze
Will we ever find
Those hopeful rays
Or stay prisoners of
Depressive waves
Can we all give
Encouraging praise
Or will morosity
Be what stays
Everyone has a choice
To change their ways
Kindness has always
Been what pays
Can you share
Your love full blaze
There really isn’t time
For delays
