I’m thankful for my friends
The ones both far and near
Who always steer me right
When nothing is quite clear
Without you in my life
I know I’d never get through
And the happiness I’ve felt
Is really all because of you

A sliver of hope
Blood rushing through veins
Coursing so fast
Trying to escape
The source of its past
For the heart is full
Of evil and deceit
Tainted even more
By the devil at her feet
And lips turn bright red
With the taste of regret
And everyone’s surprised
Death hasn’t claimed her yet
But she has a secret
A cure hidden deep within
A sliver of hope
Found where it’s always been

I see you in all there is
Your glory abundant in countless ways
And even when I feel so lost
You brighten up my darkest days
I’ve tried my whole life
To turn from the path you laid out for me
And on days like this I remember
You’re the only real truth that I can see

Even a crow…
It seems even a pesky crow
Can look beautiful as it flies
Its annoying little habits
Suddenly become quite disguised
As breathtaking wings soar
Toward the heavens above
Somehow trapped in a current
Filled with hope and endless love
And I’m reminded that even
Something so often despised
Can be so very lovely
If you just open your eyes
And so this example I capture
And affix to my heart
For the next time my thoughts
Threaten to tear me apart
