Carpet burns
Adorned her knees
It was the only way
She could appease
And what do you think
She was doing down there?
Searching under the bed
For his dirty underwear!

Writing prompt: Carpet burns adorned her knees

Swirling sands
And shifting tides
Dispelling the grains
Of ordinary matter
No real answers
As the waves flux
Just more questions
While time escapes

I miss the one I once knew
The old you
I miss the distant days
The old ways
I miss the witty rhymes
The old times
If only the old
Could be what I forever hold
I’d never have to miss you

She was the sun
And he was her moon
Both went to great lengths
To be able to commune
His pale face always reflected
The warmth of her glow
This was something he shared
So everyone would know
And as each night descended
During twilight’s first view
He would shine even brighter
While basking in her hue
The nights never grew dim
For she was his enduring light
And her luminous display
Made everything alright

Once a bird on a wire
She knew he’d fly away
For this was what he always did
Whenever his world turned gray
And after countless farewells
She finally vacated his space
So tired of his fabrications
And of always being replaced
For it wasn’t worth the heartache
Or even the fight of holding on
So she left him where he’d left her
Until he really was gone
