She was the sun

She was the sun
And he was her moon
Both went to great lengths
To be able to commune

His pale face always reflected
The warmth of her glow
This was something he shared
So everyone would know

And as each night descended
During twilight’s first view
He would shine even brighter
While basking in her hue

The nights never grew dim
For she was his enduring light
And her luminous display
Made everything alright

Bird on a wire

dancer-871720_1280

Once a bird on a wire
She knew he’d fly away
For this was what he always did
Whenever his world turned gray

And after countless farewells
She finally vacated his space
So tired of his fabrications
And of always being replaced

For it wasn’t worth the heartache
Or even the fight of holding on
So she left him where he’d left her
Until he really was gone

Sweet dreams

cd-cover-3675245_1280

I feel you standing there
Fingers slide across my face
A gentle kiss to my lips
Then you gather me in haste

The moment suddenly shatters
Time barges in, getting in our way
Yet somehow I’d still been convinced
That you would surely stay

Faith

tunnel-899053_1280

Plainly put
She needs more
Not the pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow
But instead, that bit of light
The one beckoning her
From the end of the tunnel
She walks cautiously
Uncertain of where to step
For the ground is uneven
And the rocks are jagged
Does she dare continue?
That tiny bit of light
Seems awfully far away
She sighs…
It’s likely just a mirage

You…

children-209779_1280

On the hour
Most every day
I know you’re never
Far away

If only in thought
You’re still there
Someone I hold
So very dear

A loyal friend
Sent my way
Someone I think of
Night and day

True friends
Are rare and few
And I’m just so thankful
I have you
