Window of warning

shame

Window of warning
Opened above
Rays of sunshine
Warmth of love

Voice of reasoning
Calling her name
Beseeching her to leave
A life of shame

Reminder of things
Futures to come
Imploring her to remember
What cannot be undone

Choices, decisions
Whirred through her head
Her choosing too late
For she was already dead

Liquid love

sea-3203731_960_720

I miss the feel
Of liquid love
It’s the only thing
I can still think of

I miss the days
Of never being alone
The feel of a warm touch
Melding with my own

I miss the passion
Found in a kiss
And still wish there was a way
To bottle bliss

I miss the life
That I once knew
When I didn’t have to live
Without a me and you

The ruins still stand

lost-places-3035877_960_720

I’m still trying to forget
Sweep the rubble under the mat
Dust off the cushions
Where you once sat

But the ruins still stand
Weathered by all the storms
And my heart still feels
Ambivalent and torn

I pray that one day
The past will be buried deep
But the mountains which remain
Seem almost too steep

And I wonder where we’ll be
In the years ahead
Surely scaling those mountains
Or be lost instead

Crystal clear consolations

locks-3229455_960_720

There was always comfort in his words
Both spoken and eloquently written
And she cherished every stolen moment
For with him she was quite smitten

There was crystal clear evidence
That he loved her with all his heart
And it seemed she had felt the very same way
From the first words he did impart

There was never a doubt in her mind
About any potential hidden motivations
For she could read between the lines
In all their semi-periodic conversations

And as the years shuffled along
She knew for certain he was the one
For a light shone so brightly in his eyes
Which caused her heart to come undone

Never had she been so sure
Of what love was and all it meant
Until that day he happened along
Falling into her life by pure accident

And even to this day
She still feels the very same
For once two souls align
A heart can easily be claimed

Time with you…

sunset-3349434_960_720

There never seems to be enough time with you

The days are long and the nights are too

And if I could have my way

I’d steal all the lost minutes in the day

And spend them all with you
