Through tides
that pull me away
somehow
you always stay
I’d do anything
to reach that shore
always wanting you
so much more
Instead I drift
as close as I can
weary from time
and it’s distant plan
Why can’t the waves
crash in my favor
and bring me closer
to what I savor

And then suddenly you were gone
like the rustling of crumpled leaves
fading against the backdrop
of a saturated city
My sails became limp and lifeless
hanging threadbare
against Times Square temptations
leaving me with a melancholy mindset
in the midst of a cosmopolitan dream
Manhattan meanderings
simultaneously stifled
an adventure left orphaned
under clouds full of finality
A meteor shower of emotions
enhancing the dimly lit depression
causing a crater of convictions
to overflow and seep into the crevices
flooding my ever-dispirited heart

Your smiling eyes
Everything I adore
Thru time and space
We’ve kept our love
Explosive cosmic energy
Everything we’re made of
Sparks of passion
Igniting every day
This volcanic connection
Can’t stay away
Everything you are
Is everything I am
I can’t stop feeling
So I send a telegram
Heart wrapped up
A gift for you
Everything I do
I do for you

The boy lived
With the hopes of wine
Something soothing
Something sublime
The boy hoped
For the love of her
Something different
Something sure
The boy loved
All the ease she brought
Something beautiful
Something sought
The boy eased
Into the life she rendered
Something exquisite
Something surrendered
The boy lived
Without the doubt he’d held
Something changed
Something expelled
The boy doubted
All the world would see
Something splendid
Something free
The boy whirled
With the joy he’d acquired
Something unexpected
Something required

a force unknown;
