Can I love, you ask?

Yes, I can love like the wind
on a bright, breezy day,
and the smile in my heart
will take your breath away.

I’m full of hot lava,
hurricanes, and deep seas,
and when I bestow a kiss,
I bring my lover to their knees.

I’m like a serene tropical island
in the midst of summer storm,
and those who have loved me
have often felt reborn.

So yes, I can love,
probably even better than the rest,
but there’s no telling for certain
unless you put me to the test.

Beyond repair

There are some things
that can never be mended;
even as much as you try,
the result remains upended.

And I’ve learned it is better
to let sleeping dogs lay
than to stick around waiting
for the needle to sway.

There’s a balance to life
that just can’t be amended,
but sometimes these truths
are miscomprehended.

So I’m doing my best
to remember all these things
and trying not to fret
over things I cannot change.

I see you…

I see you
all of you
the most intricate parts
as well as the outer covering

And to know you
is to love you like no other

For you are the most wonderful creature
who I never could’ve guessed would exist

But then I found you
and I uncovered all the many layers of you
year after year
and bit by bit

From a sliver of a moon

I dangled dangerously from a sliver of a moon
to search the land and silvery seas.
But even with my old trusty telescope,
I couldn’t seem to find you through the trees.

So I leapt onto a gust of westward winds
and sailed away on a stray pink cloud.
And now I’m living on a dandelion petal
doing things I’ve never been allowed.

Something just for me

My heart will forever feel heavy,
but my head will always remain free
because I’ve chosen a different path now,
something just for me.

And I know there will be some,
who will never quite understand,
but I only have this one life here,
and the journey is mine to command.
