She was so very far
From where she wanted to be
If only her mind
Could’ve set her free
But her heart withheld
Even the slightest of chance
And so she was beholden
To her circumstance

Sometimes I question
All the things
I lend my heart to
Sometimes I doubt
The sincerity
of my friends
Sometimes I wonder
Why I make
Such illogical choices
Sometimes I wish
I were less foolish
Than I am

Dismal days
Are all the craze
Everyone’s living
In a haze
Could this be
Just a phase
Or are we stuck
In a repeating maze
Look at the way
People gaze
So many lost
In a doleful daze
Will we ever find
Those hopeful rays
Or stay prisoners of
Depressive waves
Can we all give
Encouraging praise
Or will morosity
Be what stays
Everyone has a choice
To change their ways
Kindness has always
Been what pays
Can you share
Your love full blaze
There really isn’t time
For delays

I am a flower
Whose petals
Have become
Rough and torn
Frayed and forgotten
Wilted and withering
And yet I’m still here
Weepy yet hopeful
Droopy but optimistic
Dejected yet confident
Because I know
That someday
I will bloom again

Sleepyhead
Time for bed
Can’t sleep
Counting sheep
Nothing works
Body jerks
Warm milk
Soothing as silk
Back to bed
Body’s dead
Pillows lumpy
Mattress bumpy
Sheets bunched
Time’s crunched
Gotta sleep
Before the beep
Not gonna happen
Spirits dampen
Melatonin maybe
To sleep like a baby
Ahhh that’s it
Sandman’s bit
Dreamland awaits
Mind debates
Sleep at last
Wow that was fast!
