The boy

The boy lived
With the hopes of wine
Something soothing
Something sublime

The boy hoped
For the love of her
Something different
Something sure

The boy loved
All the ease she brought
Something beautiful
Something sought

The boy eased
Into the life she rendered
Something exquisite
Something surrendered

The boy lived
Without the doubt he’d held
Something changed
Something expelled

The boy doubted
All the world would see
Something splendid
Something free

The boy whirled
With the joy he’d acquired
Something unexpected
Something required

I tried…

I tried to be nice,
then I tried to be mean,
I even tried all the things
that were left in between.
And that’s just life;
we exhaust every option
until there aren’t anymore.

Mending a heart

heart-4257684_1280

Of all the things
We mend each day
A heart is rather hard
They say

Stitching a heart
Requires patience and skill
A steady hand
And a very sharp quill

Most people flee
From the needle at hand
For they will not agree
With what they don’t understand

And sharp objects
Are never very nice
So a wounded heart
Is often left to suffice

Yet the task of mending
Is actually quite easy
If you can find a person
Who isn’t too queasy

But just how often
Is somebody actually willing
To take a chance
On further heart spilling

Most would rather
Just let things be
Because mending a heart
Isn’t easy you see

It may seem simple
To the mender
But not for the person
Who must surrender

Matters of the heart
Are never quite clear
And that’s just the way it is
My dear

The essence of you…

nature-2438103_960_720

The sky
So blue
Wish I could bottle it
For me and you

Each cloud
So still
Like a painting
Seems surreal

The faint breeze
So tender
My heart willing
To surrender

My mind
So enraptured
The essence of you
Beautifully captured
