We hold on…

beach-1867285_960_720

We hold on to the feelings
We all once knew
The times when love blossomed
And progressively grew
But things change
And people pull away
We’re left not knowing
What else we can say
It’s so hard to let go
Of someone close to our heart
But often they’ve decided
To make a new start
We can suffer for years
Wishing things were different
The past can haunt us
When we become reminiscent
Then we realize the truth
That life must go on
Even if those we once cherished
Have now permanently gone
And we get through it all
Letting go day by day
Knowing there’s nothing more
We could ever do or say

Random Musings

joy-2483926_960_720

Slide across a rainbow
Kiss the midday sun
Swim with the dolphins
Now there’s some intense fun

Lick a bright red lollipop
Hug a crying friend
Build a fort or treehouse
See what’s lurking round the bend

Throw a glitzy party
Give jelly sandwiches to the poor
Catch a flight to Denver
Who’s that knocking at the door?

Toss the ball right over
Sail off to the ends of the earth
Drink a bottle of champagne every day
Find the sum of all you’re worth

Dance an Irish jig
Make a wish under a harvest moon
Go in search of buried treasure
Find that lost helium filled balloon

Eat loads of chunky monkey ice cream
Be happy in the midst of the storm
Read by the light of a candle
Crochet a blanket to keep you warm

Send secret messages while sleeping
Peel potatoes for the stew
Put lights up on the eaves
Celebrate each day that you’re you

Believe in forever and evers
Set the moon ablaze
Splash under a crowded waterfall
Count your blessings now and always

To: me

I see you
when nobody else does

I hear you
when the world goes quiet

I love you
for always being strong

I believe in you
when everyone else turns away

I know you’ll be ok
because in the end
you always are

Lost in a Sea of Grey

dark-2570442_960_720

Nothing can fill the void like you can
This ache in my heart never goes away
And because I’m so lonely without you
I’m forever lost in a sea of grey

The end of an era

We have but one journey,
and the path is never straight.

We think we have lots of time,
but like sand, it can’t be held.

We learn after the goal is complete
that the end is really the beginning.

We realize all of our joyous moments
have been happening all along.

We discover that the journey
was never about reaching our destination.

We notice all the people we’ve met
were never there to stay.

We feel bittersweet and unsettled
by all the things we’ve accomplished.

We are grateful for the sunset
reminding us to live in the here and now.
