Leathery lies

belts-1886069_960_720

Leather straps
A memory of searing pain
The kind that leaves
An abusive stain

Lies to cover up
The cruelty and the hurt
Behind locked doors
Where punishment would flirt

Damaged beyond
What she even knew
This is what she thought
Every father would do

Then one day
She realized the truth
Those embedded scars remain
As deplorable proof

Bavarian cream dreams

cherry-1044166_960_720

She dreamt of sweeties
Candies galore
Along with mounds of cookies
Piled on the floor

There were licorice laces
Lying all about
And candy corns
Which had just begun to sprout

Marshmallow fluff covered
Her once boring bed
And she began to consider
If she could possibly be dead

The curtains appeared
To be made of toffee
And she wondered if someone
Had poisoned her coffee

She thought this might be heaven
Or potentially a nightmare
While tasting Bavarian cream
As it dripped from her hair

And she thought to herself
Perhaps sweet dreams really do come true
Maybe they just don’t happen
The way they seem they ought to

The In-between

worn

Each crinkled page
Worn and tattered
Reveals the truth
About all that matters

It’s the in-between places
All those crinkles and folds
Which explain the life
That she now holds

An undeniable gift

dawn-1868418_960_720

He has knowledge and wisdom
Beyond logical compare
He understands the very things
In which others aren’t unaware

And yet he can’t always see it
Or understand the how’s and why’s
Which frustrates him immensely
All because of a gift he can’t deny

This one’s for you…

summerfield-336672_960_720

For the one who’s imprisoned in so much darkness that they can’t see through

For the one who’s lost in a sea of emptiness trying their very best to make do

For the one who is laughed at and ridiculed daily, and long ago withdrew

For the one who feels alone because heartfelt loving words are long overdue

For the one who feels worthless and ashamed because of a life of blame, it’s untrue

For the one who feels unloved and unaccepted and just wants someone to run to

For the one who’s dying inside and desperately hoping that God is really true

For the one who has hopes and dreams and is just waiting for a chance to breakthrough

This one’s for you…

Never give up and never forget that you are worth so much more than you could ever imagine.

God loves you more in a single moment, than anyone else could love you in a lifetime.
