This is the why…

You can’t erase a feeling
It’s like lying to your soul
Everything you feel
is a product of the whole

The sum of our emotions
remains buried deep inside
Sometimes they all surface
to be a witness or a guide

Everything we hold onto
has a purpose to protect
We mustn’t overlook that
in our attempt to neglect

The will that gathers within
lives to set our spirits free
Provoking our potential
to be what we might be

A whish of wisdom

You never know what’s coming
You never know what’s near
The world can be so sneaky
Far from kind and sincere

So guard your heart with an anvil
Your mind with a song
Praying that all the good things
Will carry you along

Don’t be fooled by the glitz
Don’t let glam be your guide
Follow the way of heartstrings
Let those transform your mind

Give away what you don’t need
Perhaps even the stuff you do
And never settle for less
Than what you know is true

*It’s been said that if you’re having trouble calming your mind, humming can help because you can’t hum and think simultaneously. Anyway, that’s where the idea for this poem came from. Like so many others, I’m an overthinker, and this humming method really helps me. And now that I’m thinking about it, I bet whistling while you work might help, too. If you give it a try, let me know if it helps.

Much love to all of you, ~M xo

The fool

A fool can’t see
all he holds so near,
yet others do;
it’s often crystal clear.

So then that special gift,
or treasure at hand,
finds its wings,
but he can’t understand.

And that’s the way
love eventually escapes;
the heart loses hope,
and then it breaks.

There is a way, though,
to hold on to the prize,
but it only happens
if we realize.

On life…

Looking back,
I have no regrets
for everything
before now
has led me to you.

I still believe

I see God every day;
He’s always there
to brighten my way.

He made all the wonders
of the world,
even down to the tiniest
buds unfurled.

He gave me my life,
and He gave you yours;
He lets us decide our paths
and yet suggests detours.

It’s up to us to find our path
and go our own way,
and like a good father,
there are some things
He doesn’t say.

He lets us choose
whether we go left or go right,
but gives us our inner strength
when a battle arises
that we must fight.

He never promised us
a world without strife,
and He’s shown us plenty
of examples of pain
in His own life.

I think back to when
His most trusted angel turned away,
which reminds me of when
our own children chose not to stay.

The pain and sorrows
are never very far,
but just as a mother,
He still loves us wherever we are.

I can’t begin to understand
all that He is;
I just know that He loves me,
and I am His.

And one day, I’m sure,
I’ll understand more than I do now;
His wisdom will find me
just like the faith He has endowed.

Until then, I just keep trusting
and believing with my whole heart,
and I know He’ll be holding onto me
when at last, I do depart.

We mustn’t lose hope,
even in a world that seems so dim,
so I’m putting all my hope
in the One who’s always been.
