One last wish

michigan-1823988_1280

Searching the depths
Of the starry night sky
Arms reaching out
With tears in her eyes

And yet once again
There was no reply
So she made her last wish
And said a final goodbye

A lifetime of laughter could have saved them all.

He loved her dearly
And she loved him
But at last the two
Could never begin

For each was already
Betrothed to another
The fate of their lives
Decided by their mother

So off they both went
And married their intended
With gorgeous rings exchanged
The weddings were splendid

And yet sadness filled
Their unquenched desires
All hopes and dreams
Had permanently expired

And at the end of their lives
When their mothers were dead
The two yearning couples divorced
Marrying their darlings instead

And finally happiness
Bloomed at the very end
No longer did either of them
Have to pretend

A lifetime of love and laughter
Could have saved them all
If long-lasting traditions
Hadn’t been their downfall

Petulance

people-3070630_1280

Sometimes I just want to wrap myself tightly
In faded old memories and beautiful regrets
Oh to be able to forget the present time
And just relive the days of juvenile delinquency
To be young and free with no more responsibility
But the world is unrelenting in its high and mighty ways
Creating senseless rules that have no rhyme or reason
And we become sucked into the pit of persuasion
Which forces us to admit beyond our better judgement
That we must be good, righteous, and truth bearing beings
And all it does is grow us up into boring, blundering, baboons
Many of whom have hardly any imagination left at all

Monday musings

lonely-3862214_1280

It’s easy to feel lost
In a world so grand
With thousands of people
Who cannot understand

We’re just one small speck
In a universe so vast
The memory of our lives
Will someday be left in the past

So be all that you can
In this brief life you’ve been given
And don’t ever forget
To spend each day truly livin

Always remember this
It’s never too late to start anew
And try to give everyone in your life
The very best of you

Knackered

hendrickje-sleeping.jpg!Large

I must awaken from my slumber
It seems a torturous spell has pulled me under
And I wonder, can I escape this villainous curse?
What on earth could really be worse?
I’m either wasting time by making that choice
Or blatantly choosing to sleep away my voice
Neither sound very good to me
Could someone please come and pull me free?
