Embedded between
Every worn page and fold
Some stories beg to be read
While others just want to be told
Simple black lettering
Has so much to tell
The story’s whole purpose
Is to put you under its spell
Each book can charm
Captivate and delight
Some can bring a smile
While others fill us with fright
But every unique word
Seems to have the same effect
It pushes the reader to learn
And quite often reflect
And by the end of our lives
We’ve shared hundreds more
For each book that we read
Is another life explored
Every story is a vast world
Created by a dream
Filled to the very brim
With secrets bursting at the seams
And I think that I like knowing
That there is always a book to explore
For a chance to live through another’s dream
Is something we should never ignore

Loved the poem 🙂 Reading and writing kind of go together similar to one friend holding another friend’s hand. We learn from others and walk away with thoughts and wisdom.

I have so many to read. I just don’t have the attention span. I seriously need to disappear into another world. Reading this weekend, without fail! Thanks, Michelle, for the reminder!! ❤️📚

Reblogged this on The PikaPika Post and commented:
I’ve been thinking about getting more into reading, but I thought of it more as a task to make my writing skills better. I didn’t think of it as fun, so I’ve been slacking off on it.
I woke up this morning to see that this poem had been posted. I didn’t think of it much since I was being deluded by the thought that a bunch of silly papers with tiny black text in between a cover of some material.
But a few minutes ago, I turned on my laptop and went to “Her Writing Haven” to read the poem again, but this time try to understand its meaning. Now, it has opened my eyes.
I now realize how magical books are. I now realize that reading is something that I need in my life. And I’m going to do it. I’m going to read, not just looking at the pages, but letting in to me the power that was blocked by my ignorance…
My eyes and heart have been opened… all thanks to M!

Awww…. KK, you just made my day! This is just the sweetest comment I could ever receive! I’m so glad that my poem has spoken to you in such an amazing way. I really hope you will begin to enjoy reading as much as I do. There are so many great books out there, and it’s just a matter of finding the sort of books you really enjoy, and then sticking with those in the beginning. Have fun with it! 😉

“a chance to live through another’s dream”
This phrase certainly describes the wonder of books. We learn so much from books… About the writer, about life and live, about ourselves. Perhaps this is why we write, to let others live through our dreams. ☺❤
