Hollow requirements

Between the head
and the heart
we can feel hollow
and pulled apart

All those hidden spaces
in-between
are often isolated
and unseen

The requirements
within our core
leave us yearning
forevermore

Until necessities
are found at our feet
we can feel empty
and incomplete

Few ever find
what they’re searching for
most are adrift
and wanting more

Some are lucky
to see their way
we’re fortunate
if those ones stay

Darkness and light
are ever near
consequences
aren’t always clear

But the path
is always ours to decide
we just need someone
to stand beside

    So true, and so sorrowful for those of us who don’t have anyone to stand with us in our lives. That disconnect between head and heart is real, and we can spend a lifetime trying to reconnect to discover who we truly are inside.
