Little Leaf

Little leaf blowing
Near the roses in my yard
A thing of wonder
Though most disregard
I love to watch you
Scamper and prance
Free from your branches
You’re finally able to dance
I often wonder why the world
Seems to forget who you are
I suppose most are more interested
In all the bright shiny stars
But to me you’re a thing of beauty
As you bring life to my dreary day
And I’m so very grateful
That you are never far away

She lassos heartstrings
Floating on an Autumn breeze
He feels the soft tug

The sound of serenity

The lazy days of summer
are by and by, fading away;
I hear it as the breeze
sashays through the trees.

Wind chimes join the waltz,
each elegant note
sounding the arrival
of crisp fall days ahead.

The sweet serenade
brings inner peace
and infuses my spirit
with the sound of serenity.

Marveling over mushrooms

There’s a small city
I never really see,
right outside
in front of me.

It’s hidden in the glen
thickets deep,
where the clover
likes to creep.

The little city bustles
with a steady flow
of creatures so tiny
they’re hard to know.

So, at last, today,
I opened my eyes,
shook to my core
by the loveliest surprise.

A small city
I’d never really seen,
right outside,
all for me.

Autumn anamnesis

As summer turns to fall,
I find I’m missing you.
Your face I can hardly recall,
yet still, I’m missing you.
And when summer at last returns,
I’ll be lost in all my usual concerns,
but once again missing you,
when that first leaf falls.
