How beautiful…

How beautiful are your spacious skies
even when days are gray.
All those purple mountain majesties
just take my breath away.

And from shore to shore
I love you even more,
when I see the unifying love
of my brothers.

Reminds me of the freedoms
where we stand,
holding hands together
on this sacred land.

May God bless us all
today and forever.

Renewal

we blossom just like
the flowers of the fields

as they begin their unfolding
we too are transformed
by their loveliness

mesmerized by their colorful
and ever radiant displays

we become lost in the
intricacies of each
miraculous new birth

finding ourselves
unable to exhale

stood statue still in
reverence and awe

praying silently that we don’t
upset the serenity
of such wondrous splendor

capturing in our minds what
we could never fully recreate
on our own

we remain in that still and
silent state of being

consumed by the lush
confines of such exquisite
extravagance

and we are once again
renewed by the unveiling
of new life

Marveling over mushrooms

There’s a small city
I never really see,
right outside
in front of me.

It’s hidden in the glen
thickets deep,
where the clover
likes to creep.

The little city bustles
with a steady flow
of creatures so tiny
they’re hard to know.

So, at last, today,
I opened my eyes,
shook to my core
by the loveliest surprise.

A small city
I’d never really seen,
right outside,
all for me.

I met a man…

I met a man
Tall n skinny
Ebony skin
Eyes new guinea

His rough hands
Overlapped my own
Wide smiles
Set the tone

Kindness felt
Filling my heart
Sad at last
When we did part

Never even
Caught his name
Moments like these
Never leave us the same

Regarding life

Life can blow in gentle wisps
or suddenly seize the day
in consternation.
So whenever I sense a billowy riff,
I look to the sky for clarification.
Of course, I realize that many storms
pass without peril,
and there is often radiance
after the rain.
But when a particularly vile storm
causes all the flowers to sag,
I know each one understands me.
