He really does…

He gives me his time
as he’s always there
showing me he sees me
when others aren’t aware

He holds my heart
so gently and secure
making it his duty
to love and reassure

He knows when I’m down
cheering me right up
and even when he’s low
he’s still filling my cup

He’s a caring old soul
often pretending to be gruff
making me laugh
through the craziest of stuff

He’s the only person
who’s ever understood
all the weird parts of me
no one else ever could

He senses my presence
even when I’m not there
and nobody else
will ever compare

I love you… xoxo

The end of an era

We have but one journey,
and the path is never straight.

We think we have lots of time,
but like sand, it can’t be held.

We learn after the goal is complete
that the end is really the beginning.

We realize all of our joyous moments
have been happening all along.

We discover that the journey
was never about reaching our destination.

We notice all the people we’ve met
were never there to stay.

We feel bittersweet and unsettled
by all the things we’ve accomplished.

We are grateful for the sunset
reminding us to live in the here and now.

How it all began…

I didn’t know him anymore
And I couldn’t find me
Then suddenly like a light
You were all I could see

A breath of fresh air
A vice ripped from my chest
And finally I knew
You were the thing I loved best

Prismatic ponderings

I begin to slowly die
whenever you’re away
disheartened by the absence
of your colorful array

An achromatic rainbow
is all that I can conjure
my mind’s eye being
desolate and somber

But then you return
like a prism in my mind
blotting out the bleakness
with a feeling undefined

My world becomes a haven
and my heart beats anew
saturated by all the colors
spilled on me by you

Some people…

Some people
are perpetually sad
it’s hard to talk to them
they might get mad

Other people
are always happy
they’re easy to love
and make others sappy

Some people
are just hard to figure out
one minute smiling
the next it’s a shout

I like the people
who are easy to read
you always know exactly
what they need

I struggle with people
who can never share
It’s really hard to tell
if they even care

My favorite people
are the laughing kind
they know just how
to help me unwind

My least favorite people
are the constant complainers
they suck out the satisfaction
and are endless drainers

But I think overall
people are mostly great
some can be crabby
but to most I relate
