Dismal days

Dismal days
Are all the craze
Everyone’s living
In a haze
Could this be
Just a phase
Or are we stuck
In a repeating maze
Look at the way
People gaze
So many lost
In a doleful daze
Will we ever find
Those hopeful rays
Or stay prisoners of
Depressive waves
Can we all give
Encouraging praise
Or will morosity
Be what stays
Everyone has a choice
To change their ways
Kindness has always
Been what pays
Can you share
Your love full blaze
There really isn’t time
For delays

The keeper of her heart

man-802062_1280 (1)

He was the grantor
Of wishes
And the bearer
Of love
He was the giver
Of affection
And the maker
Of dreams
He was the bestower
Of kindness
And the producer
Of happiness
But most of all
He was the keeper
Of her heart

Filling in the gaps

summerfield-336672_1280

Filling in the gaps
Life does have its ways
Often sending rays of hope
Even on the darkest of days

And when those unexpected beams
Spread warmth across our faces
It’s happiness we see
And love which embraces

Those gaps no more
A bright sunny future instead
Everything we’d hoped for
Depressive thoughts now dead

If only we could bottle sunshine
And keep it for the days of despair
We’d never be tormented
By even the smallest thought or care

Instead we look for those rays
Hopeful they’ll find us in the dark
For the tiniest amount of hope
Leaves such an impressionable mark

I’m thankful for you

team-386673_1280

I’m thankful for my friends
The ones both far and near
Who always steer me right
When nothing is quite clear

Without you in my life
I know I’d never get through
And the happiness I’ve felt
Is really all because of you

June Ann

I have a new friend
And her name’s June Ann
And oh what a joy she really is

She sends me plenty of thoughtful notes
And I laugh as she boasts
Cause she tells me what a good writer I am

And there’s nothing better for my self-pride
Than to have a friend come along beside
And give me the encouragement I need

So thank you June Ann
For offering me your sweet hand
And being an example of how a true friend should be

It’s people like you
Who keep the rest of us from being blue
Because you’re there when we need you the most
