Anchored avenues

winter-3197686_960_720

I thought those avenues
Were sound and secure
You had me believing
And damn I was sure

But only a fool believes
In things they can’t actually see
And now I know exactly
What you did to me

Those anchored avenues
Were apparently all for show
The truth came out
And so I let you go

People always ask me
If regrets still exist
But how can a broken heart
Even want to persist

The absence of you
Has only made me stronger
And I’ll never regret
Not wanting you any longer

The night of Nin

moonlight

The night of Nin
Was where she’d been
Lost in a land
No one could understand

It was filled with loss
Of complete despair
Darkness enveloped
The stifling air

It was a place of enchantments
The evil kind
Full of wicked spells
Which sought to bind

But being a fighter
She broke free
Finally finding the path
That only she could see

And she took a chance
Leaving what she knew
The night of Nin
Had forced her to

Deliverance is what she found
In that new place
No longer bound
To a life of disgrace

Too late for love

woman5

Night after night
She whispers his name
Calling for him
But it’s always the same

No answer comes
For he’s just an illusion
Created by a mind
Who’s tired of seclusion

So she lays there awake
Against unsullied sheets
Listening to the silence
As only her heart beats

And she thinks of her life
Ever wishing for more
Hoping for a future
To bring all she yearns for

Yet reality sets in
That this could be her fate
And maybe for her
Love is just too late

Lavender Love

lavender-414455_960_720

She just wanted
What he could never give
A life spent together
To be loved and to live

But he could never see
Beyond his own ambitions
Causing her to question
His silent omissions

Still she remembers
The days of lavender love
Those are the memories
She thinks most of

But those were just dreams
Conjured by her naïve mind
And she can’t forget
How he left her behind
