The battle of love…

Oh why can’t we make love instead of war?

Isn’t love supposed to make the world go round?

And if a thing of beauty is a joy forever
Then where is this everlasting joy?

A soft answer surely turns away wrath
But what ends up taking its place?

I’m always hopeful that love will find a way
And yet the journey of a thousand miles must begin with that first step
I wonder… am I really ready to begin that expedition?

I’ve been reminded in recent days of how misery loves company
And a friend in need is a friend indeed
But if opportunity never knocks twice
Then how did I end up here?

Cold hands are supposed to equal a warm heart
So I’ve been looking for the chilliest weather I can find
But I know Rome wasn’t built in a day
And it seems that time is taking its own sweet time

It definitely takes two to tango
And you can’t teach an old dog new tricks
So where in the world does that leave me?

And don’t get me wrong…
I know you can’t win them all
But people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones
Especially since all is fair in love and war

He doesn’t listen

people-2590564_1280

He doesn’t listen
and seems not to care.
Or is he just clueless
perhaps unaware?

I stomp my feet
I get so mad.
I think he likes it
when I’m sad.

This pattern of life
is frustrating as hell.
I just wanna shake him
and break the spell!

Surely he hears me
as he sits in his chair,
resembling a zombie
with a half-baked stare.

Do I have to dance naked,
would that bring him out?
If you knew him
even you would doubt.

He just doesn’t see me
and I’m always right here.
Being invisible
is what I most fear.

Tell me please,
what shall I do?
I’m being dismissed
like a worn out shoe.

I bet every woman
has faced this kind of day.
We should all just vow,
to go our own way.

Maybe we’d all get noticed
if their beds turned cold.
Weeks without sex,
would surely get old.

Don’t worry though, I’m fine!
Cause I just don’t even care.
I’ll wait and see how he likes it
when I stop washing his dirty underwear!

Customary inconveniences

Carpet burns
Adorned her knees
It was the only way
She could appease
And what do you think
She was doing down there?
Searching under the bed
For his dirty underwear!

Fury

There’s a war
Breaking out
Beneath the surface
And the heart
Isn’t winning
This time

Customary Norms

Love
Can be fleeting
Often feels
Defeating

Loss
It’s my win
And yet still
I give in

Grief
Lasts forever
When never
Is your together

Life
I get by
Always saying
Goodbye
