A sprinkle of balderdash

A sprinkle of balderdash
Dotted here and there
I’ve come so far
Of that I’m aware

A plethora of insight
Bestowed from the start
Given unique visions
I hope to one day impart

Anchored avenues

winter-3197686_960_720

I thought those avenues
Were sound and secure
You had me believing
And damn I was sure

But only a fool believes
In things they can’t actually see
And now I know exactly
What you did to me

Those anchored avenues
Were apparently all for show
The truth came out
And so I let you go

People always ask me
If regrets still exist
But how can a broken heart
Even want to persist

The absence of you
Has only made me stronger
And I’ll never regret
Not wanting you any longer

Velvety violets

Sweet velvety violets
Crumpled under the frenzy
And for their lively performance
They should have won an Emmy

Candy curtsies

Brandy
Was deliciously dandy
And her curtsies
Were quite randy
Which made it all
Very handy
For the boys who enjoyed
Eating candy

Hickory and Dickory

boys

Hickory and Dickory
Raced through the room
Light on their feet
Sat on their brooms

Laughter filled
That once bleak place
Smiles abundant
On each young face

Each free to imagine
Permitted to run
Full of happiness
Teeming with fun

Pretending to be
All they could envision
Not even minding
The occasional collision

Young and certain
Contented as could be
Childish antics
Filling them with glee

Cowboys one second
Witches the next
Other times a monster
No one would expect

The beauty of imagination
Pervading young minds
Makes the rest of us wish
We could press rewind

And although we can’t go back
We can still stay young at heart
We just have to rein in
All those lost images from the start
