The fool

A fool can’t see
all he holds so near,
yet others do;
it’s often crystal clear.

So then that special gift,
or treasure at hand,
finds its wings,
but he can’t understand.

And that’s the way
love eventually escapes;
the heart loses hope,
and then it breaks.

There is a way, though,
to hold on to the prize,
but it only happens
if we realize.

  1. It seems as though this is part of the human condition. We all experience this at some point, where we lose track of what’s really important to us, only to have it slip away. It’s painful when it occurs, but hopefully we learn from it and make sure it never happens again. This is really well written and resonates, Michelle. Wonderful writing as always. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Mike. It really is such a difficult experience when it does happen. I feel like I’ve had it done to me and I’ve done it to others. It’s easy to push people away or forget what’s truly important sometimes.
