Reasoning

mountains

The mind is very good
At creating illusions
Fanciful thoughts
Often become our delusions

We genuinely don’t know
And can never really say
If things might’ve turned out
For the better someway

The reality of every situation
Is that sacrifices come with a cost
And sometimes in the hype
We all get lost

Things often seem senseless
When they’re actually for good reason
So we shouldn’t underestimate
The importance of every season

I’m learning this these days
Realizing more as I go
Understanding the things
That I thought I’d never know

Growing and changing
It’s what we all do
And time is the only one
Who knows what we’ve been through

The In-between

worn

Each crinkled page
Worn and tattered
Reveals the truth
About all that matters

It’s the in-between places
All those crinkles and folds
Which explain the life
That she now holds

He hides his goodbyes in her hellos

couple

He hides his goodbyes
In her hellos
Never revealing
What she already knows

And as the days continue
And the months turn to years
She blossoms for him
Increasing his fears

For he knows the cost
Of true love upon a soul
And if he loses her now
He’ll never feel whole

So he hides his feelings
As best he can
Hopeful that someday
She’ll understand

Born with a paper heart

paper2

I was born with a paper heart,
Soon to be ripped up and torn apart.

Written upon it were false hopes and dreams,
Scribbled out,
Paper heart ripped at the seams.

Folded until tight and not allowing in light,
People tried but I withstood with all my might.

My delicate heart was not to be touched,
Fear of more hurt, in my hand it stayed clutched.

So under my watch my paper heart will stay,
Until the day that the wind blows it away.

Written by my closest confidant and dearest friend, Will Power.

Paper heart

paperheart

Where to start
With a paper heart

Uniquely delicate
And gossamer thin

With a pale almost
Colorless skin

Can there be
A more fragile design?

This is why paper hearts
Get left behind
