Writing prompt: Smelly smells and freaky finds
What would you do
If you had a whole day?
Would you leave behind the things
That always get in your way?
Would you watch a sunset?
Or perhaps fly a kite?
Maybe sit on your front porch
And drink milkshakes all night?
What would you do
If you had an entire week?
Would you search for all the things
You’ve been dying to seek?
Would you act like a pirate?
And finally go on an adventure?
Searching far and wide
For that lost buried treasure?
What would you do
If you had a full month?
Would you express to the whole world
That you’ve had quite enough?
Would you go on a rampage?
Perhaps tell everyone how you feel?
Or would you just stay inside
And keep everything concealed?
What would you do
If you had a complete year?
Would you investigate all the things
Which have never been clear?
Would your curious mind take over?
Would you become a sleuth?
Perhaps a professional eavesdropper
So you could uncover the truth?
What would you do
If you had a forever?
Would you still stay inside
Even in good weather?
Or would you finally just enjoy
Everything you’ve got
And not let your life
Be all for naught
What would you do?

Peering out from the dark cavern
A brilliant light shone from the other side of the lake
Her intuition told her to be cautious
And yet her curiosity was more than she could take
The light flickered in luminescent waves
Dancing across the water’s edge
Captivating her inquisitive mind
She didn’t hesitate to forgo her pledge
So off she went to explore the island
Lured by the radiance of such an unusual sight
And as her boat landed on the southern shore
Her senses began filling her with fright
Savage beasts appeared to be dancing
Amongst the glow of flaming embers
And she watched as screaming prisoners
Were all mercilessly dismembered
Before long she was spotted on the shore
And those barbarians sought her without delay
A prize she certainly was
A sitting duck on carnivorous display
And though she tried her best to escape
The cannibals were far too many
They looked at her as a gift from the gods
As if she were a lovely bright shiny penny
It seemed she was far too beautiful to kill
So instead the chief made her his wife
And now she lives in the lap of luxury
Resigned to eating people with a fork and knife

She must’ve scaled it
A thousand times
Realizing the risk
Every time she climbed
And yet she continued
To chance the danger
Of facing fears
She was no stranger
For the brilliance beyond
Was all that mattered
As her confidence waned
Her courage was gathered
And at the crest every eve
In front of that dazzling display
Her breath would give out
No words she could say
For amidst the blushing
Splendor of the eve
The grandeur of it all
Was more than any could believe
And so in her mind
It was worth risking the fall
For the worst that could happen
Would mean a forever with it all

Summer breezes graze
Each blade of grass
Whipping up the current
With a little bit of sass
The vibe it creates
Brings a surge of fun
Even as the day
Is now nearly done
The memory it leaves
Is an everlasting treasure
Moments like these
Just cannot be measured
It’s so hard to say goodbye
And yet we must go
As the sun begins to sink
Beneath its heavenly glow
